International trade presents opportunities for all types of businesses both in the UK and overseas. Many businesses are exploring how to supply goods and services into foreign markets, whilst an increasing number of overseas businesses have in recent years set up in the UK or looked to trade with local partners. Some companies are experienced in exporting and importing goods and services, whilst small and growing companies are looking to take their first steps to expanding into overseas markets.

Trading internationally provides more opportunities for growth, development and success than remaining as a solely domestic player but there is also a downside in not taking timely professional advice.. In conjunction with Lloyds Banking Group, Brethertons are running a webinar to provide an overview on risk management.

This webinar will also provide an overview on how businesses can work with professional advisers in structuring their expansion into overseas markets, and give useful practical tips on how opportunities can be managed and exploited, whilst at the same time avoiding legal and financial pitfalls.

Speakers

Jitendra Patel

Jitendra has over 20 years experience as a corporate and commercial lawyer advising on all types of corporate transactional matters including acquisitions and disposals, with particular emphasis on owner managed companies and larger private companies. He has acted for many UK and foreign businesses that have expanded their operations abroad through either outward or inward investment. Jitendra has experience of many sectors and can advise on a range of legal issues arising from cross border transactions. He is also experienced in corporate finance and banking work.

Neil Jones, International Business Manager, Commercial Banking, South Midlands.

Neil has worked in the International side of Lloyds Bank for over 35 years. His journey has taken him through the various processing areas for letters of credit, bank guarantees, international payments and documentary collections. He has a wealth of knowledge and experience and is keen to share this with his customers!

Neil’s role is to make sure that internationally trading customers are aware of the potential financial risks, what can be done to mitigate these risks and ensure there is an understanding of all options regarding finance and efficient delivery of instructions. He is responsible for businesses with turnover ranging from £500k to £15m. Neil is solely responsible for the South Midlands area, working with the relationship teams across the region.
